Physical Therapist needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Opening: PHYSICAL THERAPIST Location: Cabrini Medical Center, Department of Rehabilitative Medicine, New York, NY Start Date: every August Ministry Term: 1 Year (renewable) Position Description: Staff Physical Therapist promotes the goals of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapies and the Mission of Cabrini Medical Center by providing comprehensive patient care and by maintaining a suitable environment in which effective patient treatment may be given. Competencies: 1. Demonstrates knowledge and/or skill necessary to provide care in the following age groups: Adult (19-64 years) and Older Adult (65+years) 2. Assessment of patients referred to Physical Therapy, and designs and implements treatment program in accordance with MD?s prescription. 3. Documents and maintains records of results of treatment and discharge status and any issues relevant to therapeutic program for patient. 4. Records daily statistics. 5. Contributes to organization and maintenance of inventory of department. 6. Attends in-service educational program departmental staff meetings. 7. Promotes understanding of Physical Therapy services. Physical Demands: Physical ability to mobilize patients as needed, fabricate orthotic/ splint devices, provide training in daily living functions and gait training. Effective use of cognitive skills involving judgement, reasoning, and problem solving so as to participate in the evaluation of and treatment of a diverse patient population and to maximize patient function. Qualifications/Education: Degree as Physical Therapist from an accredited program (in accordance with American Physical Therapy Association [APTA] degree requirements for PT?s) Special Skills: Ability to use needed equipment to fabricate splints with supervision as needed; Ability to adjust assistive devices and other adaptive equipment as needed with supervision as needed. Experience: New graduate and above. Hospice Assistant needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Opening: HOSPICE ASSISTANT Location: Cabrini Medical Center, Cabrini Hospice, New York, NY Start Date: every August Ministry Term: 1 Year (renewable) Position Description: Under the direction of skilled professionals, missioner could be involved in any or all aspects of hospice care: physical, psychosocial, and spiritual. A missioner could make friendly visits to patient's residence to relieve primary caregiver; do errands; provide companionship to patients or support family members and friends; visit patients; assist at mealtimes; distribute comfort items; assist with clerical tasks; offer telephone support to grieving families and friends; help with special events. Requirements: Must attend 12 hours of classroom training and be medically cleared. We encourage the participation of those who are bi/multi-lingual, musically or artistically talented, humorous and entertaining. In the spirit of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, missioners are daring and courageous enough to strive to be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters throughout the world, especially those who are poor and marginalized. Missioners collaborate with the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to bring the love and mercy of Jesus into every situation in which they minister, and in so doing, promote Gospel values.









Requirements: Christian women and men, over age 21, single or married with no dependents, good physical and mental health, college education or work experience, one-year commitment in US, two-year commitment overseas.









Benefits: Room and board in a Cabrini community, health insurance, travel to and from ministry site and monthly living allowance provided. Spanish helpful.
